MRL 332 |
Description: |
My helper picked up these five SD45's in Bozeman after they went over as PA (power assist) units on various trains. The 332 and 319 have only been in service for 1 week in their brand new paint and already the 332 looks like a regular helper. The 319 was the west leader most of the week and managed to dodge the grime and still has a shine. Thanks to my wife for getting this shot as I came in on this helper on the back of the M-SPOLAU with this huge (cool) consist. |

MRL 327 |
Description: |
It is usual practice in Livingston to use 5 SD45's or combination of 45's and 40's as the 2nd helper set. This pic was taken during one of those weeks where someone had this great idea that, if there needs to be 2 helpers out the ACe's can get the heavy's (coal and grain) and the small 45 set can get everything else...We'll save fuel!!!. That works great until you have 2 or 3 heavy's waiting at Livingston for helpers. Start to finish from Livingston to Bozeman and back, cut into a train it takes 3 1/2 hours |

MRL 4312 is the first ACe in the fleet to get the new paint job. The unit has just returned from Tacoma, Wa to the Livingston shops where it is being reaeied to return to service. While in Tacoma the unit had its main generator replaced as well as getting new paint. The access door under the cab to the air brake equipment is open because the unit has been having electrical/computer problems that the roundhouse forces were trying to fix all day with no luck...maybe tomorrow? |
